You are What You Read

I still remember the food pyramid that was drilled into my head every time I entered my High School lunchroom. Not too far from it was always the accompanying mantra - "You Are What You Eat."
Most nutritionists still agree with this concept.
Another mantra that I believe holds true is that - "We Are What We Read."
Several months ago at a Leadership Seminar sponsored by John Maxwell (he was actually conducting the seminar) I was reminded how true this is. He believes that his success is a direct reflection on how much he has read over the years. His belief is the best way to invest in others is to invest in yourself. One way to invest in yourself is to become an avid reader - something I wasn't but knew I had to become one.
So periodically I will post what I've read (since December) and what I'm currently reading...
The One Year Bible - Tyndale
Leadership 101 - John Maxwell
Winning with People - John Maxwell
The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership - John Maxwell
The Preaching Life - Barbara Brown Taylor
John Wesley and the Methodists - Cyril Davey
Currently reading the latest edition of Rev Magazine
While reading this particular book on John Wesley (founder of Methodism) I was reminded how much he read and wrote as a minister. I know desire to do the same - for those that attend the church that I currently serve, you know I have the writing part down. Now if I can just continue to keep the reading part going...
You are what you read!
